here is a machine with two development platforms i have used. virtual studio (#vs) for writing desktop applications xampp for writing web apps I still enjoy programming after 63 years doing it. I am amazed that i could get paid so well for having so much fun. the folders c:\#vs and c:\xampp\htdocs\myn contain samples. you can email me at: poobah12137@outlook.com and i hope you will. recently i fell and suffered brain damage and to retrain my brain i decided to learn how to develop web pages. this is the result. if you find many errors blame it on my un-trained brain. click on 'myn' then ... click on 'liam' to play wirth html, javascript, and jquery. click on 'weesap' to play with the above plus PHP you will need 'wifi' to play here because the PHP runs at the server and you need localhost. i use 'xampp' as the platform. it supports apache in localhost mode. put 'xampp' in the browser addr bar to see what people say about it. put 'localhost' in the browser addr bar to see what people say about it. You can use browser bar to find stuff eg enter "w3+javascript+strings". I like the answers from w3schools and that is why i prefix with "w3+" try different things in the search bar. I urge you to start with the html files i provide and learn JAVASCRIPT. HTML draws the screen, javascript manipulates it, jquery is a helper. browsers remember things. if you execute an html page the browser will remember it. if you modify the same html page and re-run it the browser will look in its memory and if it finds it will execute the saved file not the current file. Firefox has a button that looks like a clock with which you can clear its history. use it! firefox also has a mode it calls 'private window', use it. put 'browser+history' in the addr bar and see what others say. I mean for you to enjoy this. If it stops being fun then stop doing it. To start from scratch press F10 while booting up. That reloads win-10 into the laptop. 'good old Acer'. you can always contact Acer, they help. G-pop Murray 6/2022 PS: the 'weesap' thingy is a small (wee) app that puts a small enterprise on the web, or localhost. it represents a client with 'products' for 'sale' by 'sellers'. Small but it encompasses the major points of web development. play with it! learn! get your dad involved! collaborate! enjoy! backup often!!!!
